I’m new to search marketing, will the talks all be technical or hard to understand?
Even as a complete novice, there will be something at a SearchNorwich event for you. Firstly, don’t worry – you won’t be alone, there will be other people just you there and everyone is here to learn and all of us started somewhere! By attending, you’ll increase your knowledge and confidence about search marekting, leaving with some actionable advice and maybe most importantly, make connections with other people that will want to help you!

I’m an experienced search marketer, will I get much from this event?
Absolutely! We try and make one of the talks on a ‘more advanced’ topic and you’re going to be hearing from industry experts and experienced practitioner. So if you’re really into technical optimisation, know your microdata from your JSON or want to learn more about canonical tags and Adwords scripts (who doesn’t?) there will be something here for you. If you really know your stuff, why don’t you consider taking a speaking slot at the next SearchNorwich event? We’d love to hear from you?

What do I need to bring?
Essential – If you RSVP you’re attending, the only essential is that you turn up! All of our talks are recorded and slides will be avaiable online, so you can focus on what you’re learning and make an effort to meet the people around you.

Optional – Contact details: Everyone will have name badges, but names can be fleeting in memory. Take some business cards, some pieces of scrap paper with your Twitter handle scrawled on – something you can give people (that are interested) so they can stay in contact with you. If you message @SearchNorwich on Twitter, you can also join our SearchNorwich Twitter list to stay in easy contact with attendees.

Can I bring a friend?
Please do! Sometimes it can be intimidating to go to a room with a bunch of strangers. When you RSVP to the event, you’ll have the option to add a space for a friend, please make sure you do this or there may not be room for them. If you can manage it, try not just chat to your friend though, learn, meet and share with everyone else!

What food and drink will there be?
Asking the important questions! Food and drink is kindly provided by our supporters and will usually consist of a range of pizza, light snacks, water, juices, beer and wine.

I am vegan/vegetarian, will there be stuff for me?
We will always endeavour to provide both vegan and vegetarian options for food and drink where possible. In the case of specifically ordered food, we’ll put a label nearby so you know what is suitable for you. If you

I work at a digital agency, why should I come?
Apart from meeting lovely people just like yourself, you’ll find some of the most technical conversation going with your peers – why did Google say they weren’t parsing second-wave javascript inserted canonical tags when it’s been proven they do?and other Christmas table conversation starters. Secondly, you’ll get to meet a lot of people not like you, which is probably more important. You’ll be able to chat to in-house digital marketers and hear what they’re saying about working with agencies and what they really need help with. There’s a lot of great digital agencies in Norwich working with some huge global brands, let’s help each other get better at our jobs and keep Norwich on the map.

I work as an in-house digital marketer, why should I come?
Working in-house gives you the chance to get closer to the brand than anyone, but it’s a double-edged sword. It can be refreshing to meet agency people who work over a varied cross-section of verticals and have had the luxury of trying (and failing) with a wide range of strategies. Getting to know other digital marketers can lead to great conversations about how they’re handling the specific challenges of working in-house and how to get the best from their agencies.

I’m a business owner, why should I come?
Great digital talent is hard to find and even harder to attract and you’re going to be in a room full of people who are involved in it – we’ve partnered with the University of East Anglia and Norwich City College, so you’ll be able to meet the next rising star in the digital marketing world. The talks will give you a strategic insight into the types of things you need to be considering for your business and you’ll be fortunate to have a whole room full of people that will want to talk to you about it. They’ll also be great networking opportunities with other local businesses.

I’m a student, why should I come?
There’s going to be no better place to find your next employer or apprenticeship in search marketing than SearchNorwich. You’ll also get invaluable insight into what is actually happening day to day within companies doing search marketing and how agencies are planning and executing campaigns. There’s also free food and drink if that loan is looking tight.
